\n Joe Biden plans to formally accept the Democratic presidential nomination in person at a scaled-back national party convention in Milwaukee later this summer, according to a new report.<\/p>\n

The former vice president will attend the final night of the four-day convention, set to kick off in the Wisconsin city on Aug. 17, Biden\u2019s campaign and a senior Democratic Party official both confirmed to FOX News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, major parts of the convention will take place online through virtual events, according to the report.<\/p>\n

The status of both the Democratic and Republican Party conventions had been uncertain amid the global health crisis.<\/p>\n

In April, the Democratic National Committee pushed back the date of the Milwaukee gathering from mid-July to mid-August.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not abandon Milwaukee,\u201d DNC Chairman Tom Perez told Wisconsin reporters last week.<\/p>\n

A campaign aide told WITI last week that Biden intends to accept the nomination in Milwaukee, in person.<\/p>\n

The Republican National Committee last week selected Jacksonville, Fla., to host celebratory parts of their summer convention, after dropping the initial selection of Charlotte, N.C. over coronavirus restrictions.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
