So says conservative firebrand Candace Owens of 26-year-old \u201cCherry\u201d singer Harry Styles\u2019 new American Vogue cover, in which he wears a ball gown and custom Gucci jacket.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no society that can survive without strong men,\u201d Owens, 31, wrote on Twitter<\/a> in response to the photos of Styles, who, with the cover, became Vogue\u2019s first solo male cover star<\/a>. \u201cThe East knows this. In the west, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It is an outright attack. Bring back manly men.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tweet has racked up more than 74,000 likes. Its most liked response<\/a>, from actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde, has over 58,000 likes, and reads \u201cYou\u2019re pathetic.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the Vogue profile<\/a>, Styles talks openly about his love for traditionally female clothing. \u201cI\u2019ll go in shops sometimes, and I just find myself looking at the women\u2019s clothes thinking they\u2019re amazing,\u201d he told the magazine, further declaring that \u201cyou can never be overdressed. There\u2019s no such thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s inspired by gender-blurring male showmen including David Bowie, Prince, Elvis, Freddie Mercury and Elton John, who he also looks up to musically.<\/p>\n

While flamboyant outfits felt \u201cmind-blowing\u201d as a child, today he feels comfortable in more extreme outfits. \u201cNow I\u2019ll put on something that feels really flamboyant, and I don\u2019t feel crazy wearing it. I think if you get something that you feel amazing in, it\u2019s like a superhero outfit,\u201d he said. \u201cClothes are there to have fun with and experiment with and play with. What\u2019s really exciting is that all of these lines are just kind of crumbling away. When you take away \u2018There\u2019s clothes for men and there\u2019s clothes for women,\u2019 once you remove any barriers, obviously you open up the arena in which you can play.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
