Moving forward, games from Bethesda will be \u201ceither first or better or best\u201d on Xbox and PC. This comes from the Xbox CEO Tim Stuart.<\/p>\n

Regarding cross-play, Stuart said that they \u201chighly encourage cross-platform play, simply from this landscape of, if it\u2019s good for the gaming ecosystem, it\u2019s good for us, [a] classic rising tide lifts all boats.\u201d

During the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment Virtual Conference on November 12, Stuart said, \u201cWe don\u2019t have intentions of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony or Nintendo or otherwise. But what we want is, we want that content, in the long run, to be either first or better or best or pick your differentiated experience, on our platforms. We will want Bethesda content to show up the best as\u2014on our platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes. That\u2019s not a point about being exclusive. That\u2019s not a point about we\u2019re being\u2014adjusting timing or content or road map. But if you think about something like Game Pass, if it shows up best in Game Pass, that\u2019s what we want to see, and we want to drive our Game Pass subscriber base through that Bethesda pipeline.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo again, I\u2019m not announcing pulling content from platforms one way or the other. But I suspect you\u2019ll continue to see us shift towards a first or better or best app<\/a>roach on our platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n

The $7.5 billion acquisition deal between Microsoft and Bethesda is in its final stages and is expected to close in the second half of FY2021.<\/p>\n
