“#Scooter Braun Sells Taylor Swift\u2019s Masters: Report<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Scooter Braun and his media<\/a> holding company Ithaca Holdings LLC are selling the master rights to Taylor Swift\u2019s first six albums, Variety<\/em><\/a> reports. Ithaca announced its acquisition of Big Machine Label Group back in June 2019, giving the company the rights to Swift\u2019s albums for the label (2006\u2019s Taylor Swift<\/em> through 2017\u2019s reputation<\/em>). It has not been revealed who bought the master rights, but, according to Variety<\/em>, the deal was for more than $300 million.<\/p>\n

Swift initially responded to Braun and Ithaca\u2019s acquisition with an open letter on Tumblr<\/a>. \u201cAll I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I\u2019ve received at his hands for years,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThis is my worst case scenario.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview in summer 2019, Taylor Swift said she planned to re-record her music in response to Ithaca\u2019s acquisition of her catalog. \u201cMy contract says that starting November 2020, so next year, I can record albums one through five all over again,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s next year. It\u2019s right around the corner. I\u2019m going to be busy. I\u2019m really excited.\u201d<\/p>\n
