\n Iconoclast: Lockdown Dogma<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of a second lockdown, a British citizen is barred from meeting a neighbor unless the neighbor, \u201cis a member of what government officials, with app<\/a>arently straight faces, define as a \u2018support bubble,\u2019\u200a\u201d snarks The Week\u2019s Matthew Walther.<\/a> And there\u2019s every reason to expect America to descend to such absurdity, thanks to liberal politicians more beholden to \u201ctotemism\u201d than \u201cscientific evidence.\u201d The irrationality is the worst part: In California, for example, \u201cstrip<\/a> clubs were just reopened by the order of a judge\u201d \u2014 ah, \u201cif only people were not in the unfortunate habit of wearing clothes to Mass!\u201d And in \u201crestaurants across this country, millions participate in the bizarre fiction that masks are not only efficacious but required except when we are eating and drinking, at which point they are no longer necessary.\u201d The \u201cscience<\/a>\u201d is settled: \u201cIt was settled months ago, in favor of whatever the whims of the political, educational and business establishment happen to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Philosopher: Judgment, Not \u2018Lived Experience\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kamala Harris says she has promised Joe Biden she will always share her \u201clived experience, as it relates to any issue that we confront.\u201d At The Guardian, Kwame Anthony Appiah wonders<\/a>: \u201cThat sounded comforting, but should it?\u201d After all, you \u201ccan debate my sociopolitical analyses \u2014 those facts and interpretations are shared and public \u2014 but not my lived experience.\u201d What makes its invocation \u201csuch a powerful move \u2014 the fact that it\u2019s essentially private, removed from inspection \u2014 is exactly what makes it such a perilous one.\u201d Let\u2019s hope Harris \u201cwill offer, alongside her lived experience, her considered judgment.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the left: Democrats\u2019 Disastrous Coalition<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a Politico interview, Democratic data whiz David Shor discusses<\/a> the trends that shocked so many liberals this year. As college-educated whites swing left, they increasingly set the party\u2019s agenda, driving the non-college-educated away, including some of the minorities Democrats thought they would own forever. Pollsters thought this \u201ceducation polarization\u201d would decrease in 2020 \u2014 instead, it \u201cgot larger.\u201d It\u2019s happening \u201cin almost every country in the Western world.\u201d And \u201cit\u2019s going to be very hard for Democrats to resist the pull of catering to\u201d these elite voters, and (thanks to the decline of local news<\/a>papers) tough for candidates to distinguish themselves from those who choose the party\u2019s top issues, such as \u201cdefund the police.\u201d They\u2019re just not \u201cpushing things that we think are going to move voters in a direction that we want.\u201d In short, \u201cWe need to change the nature of our coalition if we want to wield legislative power.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: A Big Blow to Race Preferences<\/strong><\/p>\n

Californians just voted for Joe Biden by nearly 2 to 1, yet \u201cthis deep blue state\u201d also \u201cdelivered a resounding rebuke\u201d to racial preferences, nixing Proposition 16 by a 57-43 margin, cheers American Civil Rights Institute and NO on Prop 16 president Ward Connerly at USA Today<\/a>. That margin is even bigger than the 10-point spread won by Prop 209, banning preferences, which pushed Connerly through in 1996 \u2014 even though Prop 16 had a 16-to-1 funding advantage over its foes, support from \u201cthe entire California political, business and media<\/a> establishment\u201d and \u201cendorsements\u201d by numerous national figures, including Kamala Harris. \u201cThis was an unequivocal victory for equality under the law,\u201d beams Connerly. Preferences \u201ccannot exist without corresponding discrimination\u201d \u2014 \u201cit is well past time\u201d to end them.<\/p>\n

VP Pence: How Don Renewed NASA<\/strong><\/p>\n

At FoxNews.com, Vice President Mike Pence celebrates<\/a> Sunday\u2019s NASA SpaceX Crew-1 launch as a \u201chistoric milestone,\u201d marking \u201conly the second time in nearly 10 years that American astronauts launched into space from American soil.\u201d The Resilience spacecraft, carrying four astronauts to the International Space Station, is a \u201cculmination of four years of renewed leadership in space.\u201d Under President Trump\u2019s \u201cclear direction\u201d and call for innovation, America \u201cremains as dominant in space as we are\u201d on land, air and sea. With the renewed space initiatives, \u201cwe\u2019ve summoned the courage to dream bigger, to work harder, and we\u2019ve gone forward with the same confidence of trailblazers who came before us.\u201d<\/p>\n
