\n A British diplomat could be seen on a dramatic TikTok video\u00a0saving a woman from drowning in a Chinese river on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Stephen Ellison, the consul-general<\/a> in Chongqing, jumped into the river to rescue the 24-year-old college student, who slipped into the water and lost consciousness, BBC reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was unconscious, she was not breathing and for a short time. We feared the worst,\u201d Ellison, 61, told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as we got back to the side, she started breathing again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tiktok video of the rescue was reposted to Twitter<\/a> by the British Embassy in Beijing\u2019s account.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all immensely proud of our Chongqing Consul General, Stephen Ellison, who dived into a river on Saturday to rescue a drowning student and swim her to safety,\u201d the British government said in the tweet.<\/p>\n

Footage shows the woman slip off a rock and into the water, emerging face down after passing under a footbridge.<\/p>\n

Ellison can be seen taking off his shoes, jumping in and leading the woman to safety with an inflatable life ring that was tossed into the water.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
