Starring\u00a0<strong>Dave Bautista<\/strong>, <strong>Ella Purnell<\/strong>, <strong>Ana de la Reguera<\/strong>, <strong>Garret Dillahunt<\/strong>, <strong>Raul Castillo<\/strong>, <strong>Omari Hardwick<\/strong>, <strong>Hiroyuki Sanada<\/strong>, <strong>Tig Notaro<\/strong>, and <strong>Matthias Schweigh\u00f6fer<\/strong>, the upcoming film follows a group of mercenaries trying to rob a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak. During a recent interview, Snyder clued fans into what they can expect to see when\u00a0<em>Army of the Dead<\/em> hits Netflix next year: (mostly) practical effects zombies, and \u201cinsane zombie mayhem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&#039;Us UNITED&#039; w\/ Zack Snyder - Film Junkee Vodka Stream\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jLVz95Bwifk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->In the video above, which runs over\u00a0<em>three hours<\/em>, Zack Snyder drops some details regarding\u00a0<em>Army of the Dead<\/em>, his upcoming zombie action movie. Most of what Snyder has to say here is positive, including a promise that the overwhelming majority of the zombies in the film will be created via practical effects. There\u2019s nothing worse than CGI-heavy zombies and\/or monsters, really. The best\/worst example of this is Will Smith\u2019s\u00a0<em>I Am Legend<\/em>, which was much better than I thought it would be but was hampered by some terrible digital-heavy monsters.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c90% of our zombies are completed practical,\u201d Snyder says in the video, going on to talk up the action sequences we\u2019re in store for: \u201cThe sort of zombie war, the action sequences and the fighting, my longtime collaborator and friend Damon Caro worked hard to create some insane zombie mayhem on an epic level, with a little splash of Vegas, just to make it cool.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMake it cool\u201d is pretty much Snyder\u2019s go-to aesthetic, for better or worse, so none of that is surprising. And what of\u00a0<em>Army of the Dead<\/em>\u2018s tone? Is it horror-heavy? Action-based? Here\u2019s what Snyder says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m obsessed with the kind of tone where \u2013 I would say this \u2013 the movie has fun, but it doesn\u2019t make fun, which is a really fine line. I really wanted to make a no-holds-barred zombie genre insanity.
