It\u2019s an infamous 1978 TV special featuring the cast of\u00a0<em>Star Wars<\/em> coked-up out of their minds, celebrating \u201cLife Day,\u201d which is the\u00a0<em>Star Wars<\/em> equivalent of Christmas. It was such a disaster that George Lucas, who didn\u2019t have much to do with the special to begin with, wanted it blinked out of existence. And while there are bootleg copies floating around, there\u2019s never been an official release. Now, the documentary<strong>\u00a0<em>A Disturbance in the Force<\/em><\/strong> will tell the behind-the-scenes story of how this thing got made.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Disturbance_in_the_Force_Trailer\"><\/span><strong>A Disturbance in the Force Trailer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/476487442?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen=\"\" title=\"A Disturbance in the Force Trailer\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->If you\u2019ve ever wondered just how the hell the\u00a0<em>Star Wars Holiday Special<\/em> came about, directors <strong>Jeremy Coon<\/strong> and <strong>Steve Koza<\/strong> are here to help. Their documentary\u00a0<em>A Disturbance in the Force<\/em>\u00a0will examine the making of the special, with Coon telling <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/io9.gizmodo.com\/see-how-the-star-wars-holiday-special-came-to-be-in-a-b-1845691562\">io9<\/a>: \u201cMost attention on the\u00a0<em>Holiday Special\u00a0<\/em>just focuses on how bad it is and doesn\u2019t go deeper. Our film is not going to be 90 minutes of dumping on it because no one wants to watch that. We\u2019re gone really deep in the research and like an onion, there are a lot more layers as to how the\u00a0<em>Special<\/em>\u00a0h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened than you would expect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film is still being edited, but the directors claim they\u2019ve spoken to every living crew member involved with the special. \u201cMost of the crew are proud not only of the special but of the TV variety genre that so few know about today, so they enjoy reminiscing about it,\u201d Kozak said, with Coon adding: \u201cWe were also able to find a never before released audio interview with Peter Mayhew talking about the Special along with over 15 hours of audio interviews recorded over twenty years ago with over a dozen people who worked on the <em>Holiday Special<\/em>. The recordings include others who passed away that we thought we\u2019d never be able to give a voice in the film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that, the filmmakers promise that the documentary will be filled with big surprises for fans. For example:\u00a0Leonard Ripps, one of the writers of the special (there are a total of\u00a0<em>five<\/em> credited writers, if you can believe that) says that George Lucas told him that Han Solo was married to a\u00a0Wookiee at one point. I\u2019ll just leave that there for you to think about.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no official release date yet, but the filmmakers hope to have\u00a0<em>A Disturbance in the Force<\/em> ready for next year.
