“#Broadway actor injured after getting sucker-punched in NYC subway<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n A Broadway actor was sucker-punched by a lunatic in a Manhattan subway station on Tuesday, suffering a fractured eye socket and a torn retina.<\/p>\n

Alex Weisman, 33 \u2014 a member of the original cast of \u201cHarry Potter and The Cursed Child\u201d \u2014 needed to undergo laser eye surgery after he was slugged in the face at the 103rd Street station on the Upper West Side, according to the actor and police.<\/p>\n

Weisman, of Manhattan, told The Post he anticipated the man would ask for money, \u201cbut instead he just started hitting me in the face.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, who also app<\/a>eared in TV roles including \u201cChicago P.D.,\u201d said he fell to the ground and the suspect fled without taking anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a mugging, it was an attack for attack\u2019s sake,\u201d Weisman said.<\/p>\n

Weisman was bloodied but hopped back on the downtown B-train and got off at the next stop, where he received help.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo older women helped me up to the station manager\u2019s office. The police came quickly, paramedics came,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

Weisman, who said, \u201cI couldn\u2019t see out of my eye,\u201d was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital West where he learned he suffered a retina tear and two fractures in his right eye socket.<\/p>\n

He spent eight hours in the emergency room on Tuesday before undergoing surgery on Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n

Police said the suspect was still on the lam as of late Thursday.<\/p>\n

Weisman said three of his friends were also randomly attacked in Manhattan this week \u2014 one in Chelsea and two on the Upper West Side.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems like a systematic problem,\u201d he said about the unprovoked assaults.<\/p>\n

Despite the subway attack, Weisman intends to continue riding the train.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t live my life scared to take the train because it\u2019s how we get around,\u201d he added.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
