By default, the Mac menu bar displays the time in a simple hour and minute digital format. However, you can customize it and add the day of the week, date, or even a second hand.<\/p>\n

You have a range of choices. If you prefer, you can keep it super minimal, and display only the hour and minute, as shown below.<\/p>\n

Or, you can add the day and\/or date, flashing separators, and seconds.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also an analog clock option that disables all the other features (including the day and date).<\/p>\n

You can customize the time and date in the System Preferences menu. To do so, click the App<\/a>le at the top left, and then click \u201cSystem Preferences.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Click<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re running macOS Big Sur or higher, click \u201cDock & Menu Bar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Click<\/p>\n

In the sidebar, click \u201cClock.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Click<\/p>\n

On macOS Catalina or earlier, click \u201cDate & Time,\u201d and then click \u201cClock.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you want to add the day of the week and\/or the date, just select the checkboxes next to \u201cShow the Day of the Week\u201d and\/or \u201cShow Date.\u201d<\/p>\n

Below that section, you\u2019ll see \u201cTime Options.\u201d Here, you can select the radio button next to \u201cAnalog\u201d to display an analog clock.<\/p>\n

To display a 24-hour clock, select the checkbox next to \u201cUse a 24-hour Clock.\u201d Select the checkbox next to \u201cShow am\/pm\u201d to display when it\u2019s morning and afternoon. You can also select \u201cFlash the Time Separators\u201d and\/or \u201cDisplay the Time with Seconds\u201d here.<\/p>\n

All changes happen live. On macOS Big Sur or higher, you\u2019ll see a preview of the current clock display at the top right of the \u201cSystem Preferences\u201d menu.<\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n\n

In addition to displaying the date in the menu bar, you can also add a drop-down calendar\u00a0with Itsycal<\/a>. Whenever you click it, you\u2019ll see your calendar with all your appointments.<\/p>\n
