“#Andy Dalton\u2019s Cowboys year just keeps getting worse<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Andy Dalton\u2019s sight, hearing and touch are intact, so he is going to play quarterback Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n

It is Dalton\u2019s other two senses \u2013 taste and smell \u2013 that are not functioning properly more than two weeks after he was placed on the reserve\/COVID-19 list.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can tell things are sweet. You can tell things are salty,\u201d Dalton said. \u201cYou just don\u2019t get the flavor with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dalton has not played since he suffered a concussion on a vicious hit by linebacker Jon Bostic on Oct. 25 against Washington.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember deciding to slide and then there\u2019s a little bit there that I don\u2019t remember,\u201d said Dalton, who received the first concussion diagnosis of his 141-game<\/a> NFL career. \u201cIn the moment, you don\u2019t realize it. But then the aftermath of it all, kind of going back, you realize you\u2019re missing some of your memory of stuff that\u2019s happ<\/a>ened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dalton\u2019s return was delayed when he tested positive for COVID-19, along with his wife and one of his sons. The Cowboys started two other quarterbacks in his absence.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt hit me hard the first day that I had it, and then gradually started feeling better,\u201d Dalton said. \u201cBy the end of it, I was ready to get out of quarantine and get back up here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cowboys (2-7) are coming off a bye week to face the Minnesota Vikings. They are alive in the lowly NFC East Division and have the easiest remaining schedule of the four teams \u2013 with just one opponent ahead with a winning record.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can eat really healthy right now,\u201d Dalton joked, \u201cand it doesn\u2019t matter because I can\u2019t taste it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The taste of victory is unforgettable, however.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
