The peacock network has released its schedule plans for January 2021. The Wall<\/em> (season four, Jan. 4th<\/strong>) and Zoey\u2019s Extraordinary Playlist<\/em> (season two, Jan. 5th<\/strong>) return and NBC will launch new comedy series<\/a> Mr. Mayor (Jan. 7th<\/strong>). Canadian import Nurses<\/em> will launch with a pair of episodes next month (Dec. 7th<\/strong> and 14th) and then return on January 5th.<\/p>\n

NBC has also set 2021 return dates for current series The Blacklist, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago PD, Dateline NBC, Ellen\u2019s Game<\/a> of Games, Law & Order: SVU, Superstore, This Is Us,<\/em> and Weakest Link<\/em>.<\/p>\n

NBC STARTS 2021 WITH A TINA FEY COMEDY, FAN FAVORITE GAMESHOWS AND THE RETURN OF EMMY AWARD WINNER \u2018ZOEY\u2019S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ted Danson and Holly Hunter Starrer \u201cMr. Mayor\u201d Arrives Jan. 7 While \u201cZoey\u2019s\u201d Moves Into Its New Tuesday Home on Jan. 5<\/p>\n

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. \u2013 Nov. 20, 2020 \u2013 NBC is starting the new year on a high note with the launch of the new Robert Carlock and Tina Fey-created and produced comedy \u201cMr. Mayor,\u201d the time period premiere of new medical series \u201cNurses\u201d and the highly anticipated season two return of critically acclaimed \u201cZoey\u2019s Extraordinary Playlist.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/span>In addition, just when we need it most, a new season of frivolity is in the air with the return of \u201cEllen\u2019s Game of Games.\u201d And when it comes to making its players happ<\/a>y, no show can turn anyone\u2019s financial fortunes around faster than \u201cThe Wall,\u201d back for more of its anxiety-inducing ball drops.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis schedule represents the best of what broadcast has to offer in any season \u2013 high quality new and returning dramas, ground-breaking comedy, and family-friendly gameshows,\u201d said Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks. \u201cWe know how much our viewers are looking forward to devouring new episodes and new shows, and we are particularly proud, along with all our production partners, to bring these to life in the current environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starting Jan. 4, Mondays will be a night of fun and games with the season premieres of hit gameshows \u201cEllen\u2019s Game of Games,\u201d which reached more than 57 million viewers last season, and \u201cThe Wall,\u201d which was undefeated in its timeslot last summer. A week later on Jan. 11, \u201cWeakest Link\u201d and host Jane Lynch join the party. \u201cThe Weakest Link\u201d has been the most-watched series premiere on the Big 4 networks through the season\u2019s opening eight weeks.<\/p>\n

Tuesdays will mark the celebrated season two return of the much beloved \u201cZoey\u2019s Extraordinary Playlist,\u201d a critical darling that won an Emmy Award in its first season and stars Jane Levy as a whip-smart computer programmer who hears the innermost thoughts of people around her through songs. The series will kick off the night and lead into \u201cThis Is Us,\u201d this season\u2019s top scripted drama and #1 in 18-49 for the past five seasons. Tuesdays will conclude with \u201cNurses,\u201d the network\u2019s new Canadian medical drama acquisition on the heels of one of 2020\u2019s biggest success stories, \u201cTransplant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wednesdays continue with Windy City favorites \u201cChicago Med,\u201d Chicago Fire\u201d and \u201cChicago P.D.,\u201d all off to strong starts once again. \u201cMed,\u201d which defeated unscripted timeslot competitors last season in total viewers, remains as popular as ever, and \u201cChicago Fire\u201d and \u201cChicago P.D.\u201d are both coming off their most-watched seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Mayor,\u201d starring Ted Danson and Holly Hunter, will premiere on Thursday, Jan. 7 with two episodes at 8 and 8:30 p.m. ET\/PT before moving to its regular 8 p.m. timeslot on Jan. 14 with \u201cSuperstore\u201d shifting to 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

From Emmy Award winners Robert Carlock and Tina Fey, \u201cMr. Mayor\u201d follows a retired businessman (Danson) who runs for mayor of Los Angeles to prove he\u2019s \u201cstill got it.\u201d Once he wins, he has to figure out what he stands for, gain the respect of his biggest critic (Hunter) and connect with his teenage daughter, all while trying to get anything right for America\u2019s second weirdest city.<\/p>\n

The eighth season of \u201cThe Blacklist\u201d will resume Jan. 22 with the devastating consequences of the fallout between Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) intensifying.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cNurses,\u201d filmed and set in Toronto, follows five young nurses working on the frontlines of a busy downtown hospital, dedicating their lives to helping others, while struggling to help themselves.<\/p>\n

The series stars Tiera Skovbye (\u201cRiverdale\u201d), Natasha Calis (\u201cThe Posession\u201d), Jordan Johnson-Hinds (\u201cBlindspot\u201d), Sandy Sidhu (\u201cHome Before Dark\u201d) and Donald MacLean Jr. (\u201cWorkin\u2019 Moms\u201d).<\/p>\n

Ilana Frank, Linda Pope, Vanessa Piazza, Adam Pettle, Jocelyn Hamilton and Tassie Cameron will executive produce. Julie Puckrin is co-executive producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cNurses\u201d is produced by ICF Films, eOne in association with Corus Entertainment, with the participation of the Canada Media<\/a> Fund and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit. eOne handles international distribution on the series.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
