“#Deadpool 3 Being Developed by Marvel Studios With New Writers \u2013 \/Film<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

It looks like Deadpool might soon join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After little to no movement on the project,\u00a0Deadpool 3<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>is in development at Disney and Marvel Studios.\u00a0Wendy Molyneux<\/strong> and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin<\/strong>, writers on\u00a0Bob\u2019s Burgers<\/em>,\u00a0have been hired to pen the script<\/a> while Ryan Reynolds<\/strong> is expected to reprise his role as the third-wall-breaking superhero. Reynolds has been meeting with various writers to hear their pitch for the next\u00a0Deadpool<\/em> movie, and the\u00a0Molyneux sisters ended up winning out.<\/p>\n

Deadline has the scoop on\u00a0Deadpool 3<\/em>. Deadpool<\/em> was a Fox project, and when Disney bought Fox there was some question as to whether or not Marvel would want to keep the R-rated superhero in their line-up.\u00a0While both\u00a0Deadpool<\/em> movies<\/a> were big hits, movement on\u00a0Deadpool 3<\/em> had ground to a halt since 2018. Before\u00a0Deadpool 2<\/em> even hit theaters, star Ryan Reynolds said he expressed doubt that\u00a0Deadpool 3<\/em> would happen, saying: \u201cFor Deadpool 3<\/em>, you know, it\u2019s an odd thing to say but I don\u2019t think there will be a Deadpool 3<\/em>. I think going forward it would be an X-Force<\/em> movie, which would be his team, so to speak.\u201d
\nBy 2019, though, Reynolds was saying that\u00a0he and franchise co-writers\u00a0Rhett Reese<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Paul Wernick<\/strong>\u00a0were working on\u00a0Deadpool 3<\/em>\u00a0and that they were \u201clooking to go in a completely different direction\u201d with the new movie. Then, to further complicate matters, in 2020\u00a0Deadpool<\/em> creator\u00a0Rob Liefeld<\/strong> said that Marvel had \u201czero plans\u201d for a third film.<\/p>\n

But now, the project is picking up steam once again. And, curiously enough, it looks like Reese and Wernick are out and new writers \u2013 sisters\u00a0Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin \u2013 are in. The Deadline report states that for the past month, Reynolds has been \u201cmeeting with a handful of writers to hear their pitch for the next installment.\u201d\u00a0Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin\u2019s credits include\u00a0Bob\u2019s Burgers<\/em> and the new Fox series\u00a0The Great North<\/em>. The Deadpool<\/em> Twitter<\/a> account acknowledged their past work with the following tweet.<\/p>\n

Bringing in fresh writers will certainly change things up, and, just in case you\u2019re wondering, sources say that the plan is to make\u00a0Deadpool 3<\/em> R-rated just like the previous two installments. There\u2019s no director attached at the moment, and\u00a0Deadpool 2<\/em> filmmaker\u00a0David Leitch<\/strong> has a very busy schedule. However, sources say \u201cthe door is open for Leitch\u2019s return\u201d since there\u2019s no real production start right now.
\nI\u2019m one of those weirdos who did\u00a0not<\/em> like the first\u00a0Deadpool<\/em> at all. However, I ended up enjoying the second film, so go figure. But if Reynolds and company want to change things up and try something fresh with the material now that it\u2019s part of Marvel Studios proper, I\u2019m all for it.<\/p>\n
