\n Diddy \u2014 who legally changed his name to Sean Love Combs \u2014 revealed that he spent a valuable summer as a kid staying with Amish folks.<\/p>\n

At the Fresh Air Fund\u2019s virtual gala, the hip-hop mogul declared, \u201cMy name is Sean Love Combs and I am a former Fresh Air Fund kid. I grew up in Harlem. We didn\u2019t have any summer camps.\u201d<\/p>\n

He reminisced about a time spent at a bed and breakfast in New Hampshire, where he learned to play tennis.<\/p>\n

Then: \u201cI went and stayed with an Amish family, and that was crazy because there was no electricity and things like that \u2014 it helped me to survive,\u201d he said. \u201cIt helped me .\u2009.\u2009. to have those experiences that [tell you] everything\u2019s going to be all right. There\u2019s no electricity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Combs said: \u201cThe Fresh Air Fund changed my life \u2014 as you can see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mariah Carey, whose career-development camp is a part of the org, also made a cameo. \u201cWhen I began, I had one simple idea \u2026 to create a summer camp where kids feel safe, have fun and learn something. And today, Camp Mariah is still going strong,\u201d she said. \u201cIt motivates me, in return, to keep doing my best.\u201d<\/p>\n
