\n A blue shark baffled scientists and residents in the Cape Cod town of Eastham, Massachusetts on Friday when the ocean predator app<\/a>eared in the local marsh,\u00a0 according to NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought maybe it was a river otter,\u201d said Rebbi Rowe, who lives near Bee\u2019s River Marsh and recorded the shark<\/a> trying to find a way to find its way back out again.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I watched it for like a minute, and then it started swimming around and I was like, OK, well, that\u2019s not a river otter. It\u2019s got fins,\u201d she told the network.<\/p>\n

Blue Sharks grow up to 12 feet and weigh almost 400 pounds and usually migrate to South America during the winter months.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew it was not where it was supposed to be,\u201d said Rowe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know enough about sharks that they don\u2019t swim in the marsh.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scientists believe the shark got lost as it headed south for the winter.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a big migration for a number of species,\u201d said Greg Skomal, the senior fisheries scientist for the state Division of Marine Fisheries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hook of Cape Cod sometimes entraps (southbound) animals.\u201d<\/p>\n

After analyzing the footage taken by Rowe, Skomal concluded that the shark was in good condition and was confident it would find it\u2019s way out.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
