\n Sony\u2019s PlayStation 5 supply issues don\u2019t look like they\u2019ll be letting up any time soon.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Russian news<\/a> outlets TASS<\/a>, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said that the next-generation console will continue to experience steep stock shortages for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cI\u2019ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I\u2019m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ryan added that the COVID-19 pandemic had made things \u201cchallenging from the production side,\u201d with Sony workers not being able to get into its factories in Asia during lockdowns.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t plan on doing another big console launch in the midst of a global pandemic,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I wouldn\u2019t recommend it to anybody else.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sony has yet to release any official sales numbers for the PS5, which came out almost two weeks ago, but the console has not consistently been in stock at any retailer since its chaotic preorder rollout\u00a0in September.<\/p>\n

While some buyers have been willing to cough up thousands of dollars on eBay, it app<\/a>ears that the next best chance to score a system will be on Black Friday. That\u2019s when a number of big-box retailers will make their latest shipments available.<\/p>\n

Best Buy, whose PS5 and Xbox pages have shown the items sold out for months, has advertised that it will have \u201climited quantities\u201d available on the major shopping holiday, while Walmart has confirmed<\/a> that it will have some units in stock on its website.\n <\/div>\n
