Users have pointed out for years that when Bitcoin and other crypto assets are especially volatile, the exchange sometimes goes offline without warning. These outages can prevent customers from buying or selling their crypto assets, and are <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly viewed unfavorably by traders.<\/p>\n<p>Between  March and November 2020, the exchange recorded nine different issues leading to various types of outages or connectivity problems, although direct customer impact is somewhat unclear in some of the instances. The issues seemingly range in their degree of severity. The main <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/history?page=1\">status<\/a> update posted by Coinbase during such times is:\u00a0 \u201cCoinbase.com is experiencing connectivity issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Four of these instances coincided with volatile Bitcoin price action, according to 30-minute price candles on TradingView.com.<\/p>\n<p>On April 29, Coinbase <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/0yjzscppm4sb\">posted<\/a>\u00a0about connectivity issues. In an update to the status posted later, Coinbase.com appears to have suffered issues between 10 am and 12:30 pm PDT on that day. Bitcoin&#8217;s price moved 4.54% during that time window. Cointelegraph previously\u00a0reported on platform difficulties seen\u00a0on\u00a0that day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On May 9, Coinbase <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/8zxtm6prlrb8\">notified<\/a> the public of another difficulty, again\u00a0stating:\u00a0\u201cCoinbase.com is experiencing connectivity issues.\u201d This time, Bitcoin&#8217;s price moved 15.26% between 5 p and 6 pm PDT \u2014 the time window showing difficulties, based on the status, which also included added details published several days after.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Coincidence that everytime we have huge market moves <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coinbase?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@coinbase<\/a> shuts down? <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SEC_Enforcement?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SEC_Enforcement<\/a> seriously investigate this is fishy. We need some transparency on this<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Cobb (@AlexCobb_) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlexCobb_\/status\/1259283901756784640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 10, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>The third instance correlating with notable Bitcoin price action happened on June 1, when Coinbase once again <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/nyh33mmw2c6f\">notified<\/a> the public of connectivity issues. This incident seemingly impacted users on some level between 4 and 5 pm PDT, during which time Bitcoin moved 6.94% in price. The days following this particular incident saw some Coinbase customers leave the platform, judging by Bitcoin withdrawals, and reported by Cointelegraph\u00a0 on June 9.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Coinbase also suffered another connectivity <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/tgz6d7ffcq1p\">issue<\/a> on July 28, between 2 am and 4:30 am PDT, during which Bitcoin moved 3.82% in price.<\/p>\n<p>Not all of Coinbase&#8217;s issues have coincided with major BTC price swing days, however. Coinbase notified the public of issues on Nov. 16, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/85j21s852sv2\">stating<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cWebsite and mobile apps not loading.\u201d Bitcoin only moved roughly 1.72% in price during the stated time window of the problems, although it was enough to provoke more <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bitcoinzay\/status\/1328815471823642626?s=20\">outrage<\/a> within the trading community. Connectivity issues also occurred on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/dfzhq7nddhnj\">May 28<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/1twmtrlfmm8j\">July 17<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/7wf0tnktxxjs\">Aug. 18<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/status.coinbase.com\/incidents\/ky01hsfqzqsj\">Nov. 11<\/a>, during which Bitcoin moved less than 3% in price during each incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Coinbase down AGAIN. At this point I adamantly encourage everyone to stop using Coinbase.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve had years and endless resources to prepare for this. However, the firm&#8217;s CEO, Brian Armstrong\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brian_armstrong\/status\/1328874993548222465?s=20\">tweet<\/a>ed that Coinbase aims to fix the issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We&#8217;re working hard to add additional capacity (both in servers and customer support) to deal with increased traffic.
