\n There are just six game<\/a>s left on Cam Newton\u2019s one-year deal with the Patriots, and it\u2019s unclear if the veteran quarterback hopes to stay in New England.<\/p>\n

During an app<\/a>earance on WEEI\u2019s \u201cThe Greg Hill Show\u201d on Monday, Newton was asked directly<\/a> if he has interest in staying with the Patriots beyond this season. He opted to dance around the question.<\/p>\n

\u201cMan, I have interest in winning the Arizona Cardinals game,\u201d Newton said.. \u201cHow about that? . . . There are so many things that \u2014 I don\u2019t want to even harp, dwell, or even think \u2014 as the Bible says, \u2018my cup runneth over.\u2019 Just trying to focus on the near future rather than the far future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Newton has improved in recent weeks following an early-season slump that proceeded him missing a game after testing positive for COVID-19. Newton threw for 365 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots\u2019 27-20 loss to the Texans on Sunday, which broke a two-game winning streak.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say so,\u201d Newton said of whether he\u2019s comfortable in the offense. \u201cI would say every day for me is another opportunity for me to get better. Do I know everything in this offense? No, I do not.\u201d<\/p>\n

After being released by the Panthers at the start of free agency, the 31-year-old Newton languished in free agency until the Patriots scoped him up on a one-year, incentive-laden deal.<\/p>\n

In nine games this season, Newton has thrown for 1,900 yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. He missed Week 4 when he was placed on the COVID-19\/reserve list.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
