They also shared a statement from executive producer Mike Richards, who noted that Alex wanted the show to move forward without him. This is a way to honor his legacy, and it makes sense to start with Jennings given his notoriety and success with the show.<\/p>\n<p>We know that Jennings is a lead candidate to take over the gig of\u00a0<em>Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>host full-time, though there is also a movement for\u00a0<em>Reading Rainbow\u00a0<\/em>host LeVar Burton to also be considered.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/alex-trebek-us-news-ken-jennings-0d20768baf08db5bcfceea673ebddff6?utm_source=Twitter&amp;utm_medium=AP&amp;utm_campaign=SocialFlow\">Associated Press<\/a>, you will see Jennings\u2019 shows starting on January 11; meanwhile, Trebek\u2019s final shows will air starting on January 4.\u00a0<em>Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>will go on a holiday hiatus starting on December 21, meaning that the previous Christmas Day date for Alex\u2019s last show has been postponed. You\u2019ll have a chance to see him a few more times in early January \u2014 and then that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n<p>It is going to be very hard to watch\u00a0<em>Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>without Trebek, given that he was the heart and soul of the series. Yet, the show was also always about the trivia and promoting a love and thirst for knowledge. We never want to see that go anywhere, and it\u2019s with that in mind we\u2019re thrilled that this show will continue and hopefully run for many more years.<\/p>\n<p>We hope that a new host for\u00a0<em>Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>is confirmed at some point over the next few months, but there is no need to rush.
