“#Lorde Announces New Photo Book<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Lorde has announced a new 100-page photo book. GOING SOUTH<\/em> compiles images from her 2019 trek to Antarctica, along with a piece of writing from the artist. Lorde announced the book in a news<\/a>letter sent to fans earlier today (November 24). GOING SOUTH<\/em> is available for pre-order here<\/a>, and the first 500 copies will include a picture postcard signed by Lorde. The photos in GOING SOUTH<\/em> were shot by Lorde\u2019s friend Harriet Were.<\/p>\n

The exact release date of the book was not included in Lorde\u2019s newsletter. \u201cWe\u2019re doing preorders to get an idea of how many to produce, so it won\u2019t arrive for Christmas I wouldn\u2019t think,\u201d she said. The newsletter also included updates on her home vegetable garden in New Zealand, and some words on her trip<\/a> to Antarctica, but no news of forthcoming music. All net proceeds from GOING SOUTH<\/em> will go toward a scholarship fund for an Antarctica New Zealand<\/a> postgraduate scholar to study the science<\/a> of climate change.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I went to Antarctica, I hadn\u2019t yet started writing again after finishing Melodrama<\/em>,\u201d Lorde wrote in her newsletter. She continued:<\/p>\n

I realised after the trip that what my brain had been craving was a visit to an alternate realm. Albums live in their own realms in a way, and Antarctica really acted as this great white palette cleanser, a sort of celestial foyer I had to move through in order to start making the next thing. In the plane coming down to land, I had this very intense bolt-of-lightning thought, which in all its eloquence was literally \u2018DON\u2019T MAKE SHIT RECORDS\u2019, lol. I\u2019ll always hold this trip up as a life highlight for many reasons, but I\u2019m particularly grateful for it as one that showed me the beginnings of the new world which I continue to build, and am very excited to start showing you soon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Lorde released Melodrama<\/em> back in 2017. In her newsletter from May, she said that work is well underway a new album. \u201cThe work is so fucking good, my friend,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI am truly jazzed for you to hear it.\u201d<\/p>\n
