The biggest change: The bash will be tailored exclusively to television audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the new format, organizers promise an equally grand spectacle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"endmarkEnabled\">\u201cThanksgiving looks a lot different for a lot of people but one thing you can count on is that you\u2019ll see balloons, you\u2019ll see floats, you\u2019ll see Santa,\u201d Susan Tercero, the executive producer of the parade, told the Post.<\/p>\n<p>As a service to revelers, we\u2019ve compiled a complete guide to how the ceremony is going down in the time of corona.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_is_this_years_Macys_Thanksgiving_Day_Parade\"><\/span>When is this year\u2019s Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This year\u2019s parade will air on NBC on Nov. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon Eastern.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_can_I_watch_the_Thanksgiving_Day_Parade_and_is_it_available_to_stream\"><\/span><strong>How can I watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade and is it available to stream?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In addition to the NBC broadcast, viewers can also catch a livestream of the celebration on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/Verizon\">YouTube.com\/Verizon<\/a>, on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Verizon\">Verizon\u2019s Twitter account<\/a> and other Verizon Media properties. Instead, the event will take place around Herald Square in Manhattan, where the Macy\u2019s flagship department store is located. Even with the smaller parade route, city officials are discouraging New Yorkers from congregating in the 34th Street area to watch the festivities live, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/popculture\/how-macy-s-pulling-thanksgiving-day-parade-year-t200017\">Today reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The parade itself will be smaller as well, with organizers reducing the number of participants by a whopping 88%, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2020\/tv\/news\/macys-thanksgiving-day-parade-2020-nbc-coronavirus-1234838869\/\">Variety reported.<\/a> Those who do attend will only hail from the New York tri-state area and will be donning masks and maintaining social distance at all times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSafety is our No. 1 priority, and we can\u2019t do this without people in the city of New York and the state really supporting us and guiding us along the way,\u201d said Tercero of the Macy\u2019s parade makeover.<\/p>\n<p>Fans shouldn\u2019t feel too deflated. T-day is all about leftovers, right?<\/p>\n<p>And, if that wasn\u2019t enough reason to be thankful this year, Santa Claus will once again be closing the show.<\/p>\n<p>The three-hour telecast will be hosted by NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and, of course, Al Roker, who <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/11\/23\/al-roker-returns-to-today-after-prostate-cancer-surgery\/\">recently returned to the show<\/a> after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer.
