Venom 2<\/em><\/strong> doesn\u2019t need to let there be carnage when the whole movie industry is already in disarray due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. With film productions temporarily shut down all around the world, Sony Pictures was also forced to push back the release date of its high-profile\u00a0Venom<\/em> sequel despite the film wrapp<\/a>ing production. Like all big comic book films,\u00a0Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em><\/strong> would have to go through an extensive post-production process that involves reshoots. But as the pandemic wears on,\u00a0Venom 2<\/em> producer\u00a0Dan Wilson<\/strong>\u00a0is unsure of when those reshoots could reasonably be finished.<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0Vanity Fair, producer Dan Wilson confirmed the current status of\u00a0Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em>, which was one of the few productions lucky enough to wrap filming before the coronavirus pandemic brought Hollywood to a screeching halt. However, the\u00a0Venom 2<\/em> production wasn\u2019t lucky enough to be completely done, as the required film reshoots, which are a regular part of a process for any big-budget blockbuster, would still need to be completed. But Wilson revealed that there is no set date yet for\u00a0Venom 2<\/em> reshoots to be completed:<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody wants to go into an environment that\u2019s going to be risky and that goes for crew members too. It\u2019s not just talent. It\u2019s everybody involved on set. There\u2019s a nervousness and that\u2019s natural and understandable. In the plans that we\u2019ve discussed, they\u2019ve certainly taken that into account and we\u2019ll see when we get there, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Director\u00a0Andy Serkis<\/strong>, who marks his third directorial feature with\u00a0Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em>, has been working remotely on the post-production process, but the rest of the cast and crew still need to get together to finish the film. But as Hollywood discusses guidelines and precautions to slowly resume productions, it\u2019s unclear when that can happen.<\/p>\n

Let There Be Carnage<\/em> refers to\u00a0Woody Harrelson\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0Cletus Kasady \u2013 the serial killer who bonds with another symbiote that turns him into the lethal villain known as Carnage \u2013 who was introduced in a post-credits scene of 2018\u2019s\u00a0Venom<\/em>.\u00a0Along with Tom Hardy, who reprises his role as the symbiote-possessed Eddie Brock<\/strong>,\u00a0Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em>\u00a0will also bring back\u00a0Michelle Williams<\/strong>\u00a0as\u00a0Anne Weying. The sequel will also see\u00a0Naomie Harris<\/strong>\u00a0(Skyfall<\/em>) playing another symbiote called Shriek.<\/p>\n

Venom 2<\/em> was originally\u00a0set to debut on October 2, 2020, but was pushed back eight months\u00a0by Sony to hit the theaters on June 25, 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n
