The Pokemon Company teased<\/a> its Pokemon<\/em> 25th anniversary celebrations during the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade in Manhattan today. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Pokemon<\/em> franchise debuted with the release of Pokemon Red<\/em> and Pokemon Green<\/em> on February 27, 1996 in Japan. It will celebrate its 25th anniversary on February 27, 2021.<\/p>\n

The Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade performance saw a troupe of Pikachu dance to the original theme<\/a> song of Pokemon<\/em> in Herald Square, and ended with Pokemon Trainers unfurling a massive banner unveiling the official logo for Pokemon<\/em>\u2018s 25th anniversary (pictured above).<\/p>\n

This year also marked the 20th consecutive year in which a giant Pikachu balloon participated in the parade.<\/p>\n

The Pokemon Company will share more information about the \u201cvery special upcoming celebration\u201d for Pokemon<\/em>\u2018s 25th anniversary at a later date.<\/p><\/div>\n
