“#Michael Jordan donating $2M from ‘Last Dance’ to Feeding America<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Basketball legend Michael Jordan is donating $2 million of the proceeds from ESPN\u2019s popular docuseries<\/a> \u201cThe Last Dance\u201d to feed the hungry.<\/p>\n

The donation of the proceeds from the documentary, which focuses on his final season with the Chicago Bulls, is going to the non-profit Feeding America and its food banks, the organization announced in a tweet Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Feeding America called it \u201can incredible gift to be thankful for\u201d ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and said the cash will \u201chelp our neighbors facing hunger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jordan said in a statement through the organization, \u201cIn these challenging times and in a year of unimaginable difficulty due to COVID-19, it\u2019s more important than ever to pause and give thanks.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to be donating additional proceeds from \u2018The Last Dance\u2019 to Feeding America and its member food banks in the Carolinas and Chicago to help feed America\u2019s hungry,\u201d the NBA Hall of Famer added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Last Dance\u201d doc also covers the Bulls-Knicks rivalry of the early 1990s.<\/p>\n

Jordan, who was raised in North Carolina and is the owner of the Charlotte Hornets, announced in June that he and the Jordan brand will be donating $100 million over the next 10 years to organizations \u201cdedicated to racial equality, social<\/a> justice and greater access to education.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBlack lives matter. This isn\u2019t a controversial statement,\u201d he and his brand said in a statement at the time following the May 25 police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil the ingrained racism that allows our country\u2019s institutions to fail is completely eradicated, we will remain committed to protecting and improving the lives of Black people.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
