\n The Army is said to be spending millions on neuroscience<\/a> that could lead to \u2018telepathic\u2019 soldiers.<\/p>\n

The goal is to build a system that would allow soldiers to communicate via their brain signals.<\/p>\n

So far, ARO neuroscientists have reportedly been able to decode and put back together behavioral signals from the brain.<\/p>\n

They focused on monkeys for their recent research.<\/p>\n

ARO program manager Hamid Krim told C4ISRNET<\/a>: \u201cHere we\u2019re not only measuring signals, but we\u2019re interpreting them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next stage is to try and decode other types of brain signals.<\/p>\n

Then create a computer that can interpret thoughts just by picking up on signals.<\/p>\n

Krim told C4ISRNET: \u201cYou can read anything you want; doesn\u2019t mean that you understand it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next step after that is to be able to understand it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, that is the original intent mainly: to have the computer actually being in a full duplex communication mode with the brain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tech could help soldiers plan their next move while remaining completely silent.<\/p>\n

It could also pick up on stress and fatigue signals before the person even realizes they\u2019re getting tired.<\/p>\n

Krim said: \u201cIn a theater, you can have two people talking to each other without \u2026 even whispering a word.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you and I are out there in the theater and we have to \u2026 talk about something that we\u2019re confronting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI basically talked to my computer \u2014 your computer can be in your pocket, it can be your mobile phone or whatever \u2014 and that computer talks to \u2026 your teammate\u2019s computer.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then his or her computer is going to talk to your teammate.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
