\n A speeding minivan that crashed in downtown Buffalo killed a woman and left the driver in critical condition on Thanksgiving Day, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was travel<\/a>ing at an \u201cextreme rate of speed\u201d when it plowed into the McKinley Monument in Niagara Square around 7:30 a.m., Buffalo police Capt. Jeff Rinaldo told reporters.<\/p>\n

The woman died at the scene, and the driver was in critical condition at ECMC Hospital.<\/p>\n

Police have neither identified the woman nor the driver.<\/p>\n

Cops have opened a criminal investigation and notified the Erie County District Attorney\u2019s Office to determine the cause of the crash.<\/p>\n

No charges have been filed.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
