His primary vote totals also beat President George W. Bush\u2019s in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>The high Trump turnout showed up not only in reliably Republican states like Montana and Arkansas, but even in deep-blue strongholds and in purple states that Joe Biden hopes to flip come November.<\/p>\n<p>In Michigan\u2019s March primary, Trump\u2019s 639,144 votes dwarfed the 174,054 that Obama notched in 2012. A few weeks later, Trump scored 713,546 votes in Ohio \u2014 more than twice Obama\u2019s 2012 total of 285,990.<\/p>\n<p>Credit \u201cthe sophisticated political machine that the Republican National Committee and Trump campaign has built,\u201d RNC press secretary Mandi Merritt told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign has made a heavy get-out-the-vote effort in each primary state as a dry run for its <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> election turnout operation, Merritt said. That included nearly 45 million voter contacts \u2014 more than the GOP made in the entire 2016 cycle.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s using Trump\u2019s rallies to vaccum up supporters\u2019 data and register new voters, fueling its November plans.<\/p>\n<p>The primary push has a sound psychological basis, Norpoth, an expert in voter behavior, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you can get people to come out for a primary that isn\u2019t even a contest, you have them hooked,\u201d he explained.<strong><br \/><\/br><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr>\n<\/hr>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Primarily_Trump\"><\/span>Primarily Trump<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Unlike past incumbent presidents, Donald Trump\u2019s campaign has been pushing supporters to the primaries \u2013 even though his nomination is in the bag.
