\n Data released Saturday showed continued reason for optimism in New York\u2019s battle against the coronavirus, with the number of positive test results statewide holding steady at just 1 percent.<\/p>\n

Of 68,830 tests on Friday, 716 were positive for the bug, the state Department of Health reported. The number is down from the day before, when 796 people were reported infected out of 79,303 tests.<\/p>\n

There were 24 deaths from the virus Friday, up slightly from Tuesday\u2019s 17 fatalities, which Gov. Andrew Cuomo said was the lowest total since March 20.<\/p>\n

A total of 391 people in New York City tested positive Friday, the state said. The total number of cases reported in the Big App<\/a>le is at 208,873, according to the city\u2019s Department of Health.<\/p>\n

The state has had 387,272 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began in March.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
