“#De Blasio, 2021 hopefuls to attend David Dinkins memorial<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Mayor Bill de Blasio, First Lady Chirlane McCray and three 2021 hopefuls are set to attend a Saturday memorial for former New York City Mayor David Dinkins organized by Harlem political powerbroker Rev. Al Sharpton.<\/p>\n

The event follows the Tuesday passing of the Big App<\/a>le\u2019s first black mayor \u2014 who battled racial strife, a budget crisis and the HIV\/AIDS and crack cocaine epidemics during the tumultuous early 1990s.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to show in Harlem, on the week he passed, how much he meant to us,\u201d Sharpton told The Post. \u201cWe\u2019ve fought many battles together and I don\u2019t think he\u2019s been given the credit he\u2019s deserved for what he did for the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three hopefuls in the Democratic Party\u2019s 2021 mayoral primary will also appear alongside the termed-out de Blasio at the headquarters of Sharpton\u2019s National Action Network: Brooklyn Councilman Carlos Menchaca, former Wall Street executive Ray McGuire and Shaun Donovan, a former top aide to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and President Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams are also slated to attend.<\/p>\n

Sharpton said that social<\/a> distancing protocols would be enforced, including temperature checks at the doors and mandatory mask-wearing.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
