\n A veteran Washington D.C. cop was shot dead by his wife, who then turned the gun on herself in a murder-suicide this week, authorities said.<\/p>\n

A family member discovered the body of Det. Timothy Eugene Francis and Christina Lynn Francis at their Maryland home on Friday after unsuccessfully trying to contact Christina and Timothy throughout the day.<\/p>\n

Police said that Christina, 41, had shot Timothy, 50, and then herself with a handgun that was found on the scene.<\/p>\n

Just 12 hours earlier, Christina shared a video of the couple\u2019s wedding on Facebook<\/a>, according to screen shots from the Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The post lamented the couple getting \u201clost in petty s\u2014\u201d and said the \u201cmarriage wasn\u2019t put together for a great [reason],\u201d according to the paper.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had 6 years of experience and [memories] that should have taken [precedence] over everything in everything we did,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love you and what we had together\u2026YOU AND I BELONGED TOGETHER AND ALWAYS\u2026Tim and Christina Francis together.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also shared a photo of her two children, calling them her \u201cpride and joy\u201d before adding \u201clove you both with my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia shared its condolences and lauded Timothy as a stellar officer, with 20 years on the job.<\/p>\n

The department tweeted<\/a>: \u201cMPD Det. Timothy Francis, was tragically shot and killed in a domestic-related homicide yesterday. The suspect was also found deceased & \u00a0@CCSOMD is currently investigating this case. Det. Francis had 20 years of service. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family & loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Francis followed in the footsteps of his father, who served as a detective for nearly 45 years in the same department, according to the D.C. Police Union<\/a>.<\/p>\n
