“#New group ‘Freedom Force’ vows to be GOP answer to AOC’s ‘Squad’<\/strong>”

\n Several newly-elected Republican House members, including New York\u2019s Nicole Malliotakis, have banned together to create a group they\u2019ve dubbed the \u201cFreedom Force\u201d \u2014 to oppose \u201cThe Squad\u201d of progressive Democratic congresswomen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis group will give a contrast to the hard left,\u201d Utah Rep.-elect and former NFL player Burgess Owens said Friday on Fox News<\/a>\u2019 \u201cThe Ingraham Angle.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have \u2018Freedom Force\u2019 versus \u2018Squad.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Squad\u201d refers to the nickname for a group of four women first elected in 2018: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York; Ilhan Omar of Minnesota; Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts; and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. All four were re-elected in November.<\/p>\n

Owens pledged that the new GOP band, made up of women and people of color, will work to protect small business-owners.<\/p>\n

\u201cBusiness ownership is the foundation of our freedom,\u201d he said\u00a0on \u201cFox & Friend Weekend\u201d<\/a> Sunday. \u201cIt\u2019s where our middle class comes from.\u201d<\/p>\n

At least eight incoming Republican lawmakers are in the group, including Reps.-elect Malliotakis; Michelle Steel of California; Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma; Victoria Spartz of Indiana; and Carlos Gimenez, Maria Elvira Salazar and Byron Donalds of Florida.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have different cultures, backgrounds, colors. But what we have in common is that we have a love for our country\u2026 and we\u2019re going to make sure we stay free,\u201d Owens said of the coalition.<\/p>\n

Speaking on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union\u201d<\/a> Sunday, Malliotakis mentioned \u201ca natural alliance\u201d was occurring between members of the freshman class.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think what you\u2019re going to see is a group of individuals who are going to serve as a counterbalance to the values of the social<\/a>ist squad,\u201d Malliotakis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t believe we should be dismantling the economy. We don\u2019t believe we should be destroying free market principles. We don\u2019t believe in Green New Deal. We don\u2019t believe in packing the courts.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
