“#Defiant NYC bar closed as people bang on door, demand drinks<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n The Staten Island bar owner who has defied COVID-19 restrictions kept his business\u2019 doors locked on Monday so he could app<\/a>ear in an interview on the \u201cTucker Carlson\u201d show from his establishment.<\/p>\n

Even as the owner closed shop desperate would-be customers banged on the door demanding drinks.<\/p>\n

One couple drove from New Jersey to support Mac\u2019s Public House, which is in a virus danger zone and has been ordered closed to indoor service \u2014 but they were forced to leave thirsty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to give you money!\u201d Robyn Harrington shouted at the closed door. \u201cWe just want to give the bar some money and business,\u201d said the 39-year-old, who came down with her boyfriend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat if I slide money under the door?\u201d she asked her boyfriend. \u201cWonder if there is a secret code to get in.\u201d<\/p>\n

The owners, Keith McAlarney and Danny Presti, came by at around 6:30 p.m. to meet with their attorneys \u2014 ahead of a segment for the Fox News<\/a> show that was set to film inside.<\/p>\n

During that time, two people knocked on the door, and McAlarney opened to tell them that \u201cWe\u2019re closed today,\u201d explaining it was because of the scheduled interview with Carlson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate your support and we\u2019ll do what we can,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The owners have told The Post they are refusing to heed state and city restrictions, which went into effect Wednesday.<\/p>\n

So far, the bar has been slapped with thousands of dollars in fines and a shut-down order from the state Department of Health, not to mention having its state liquor license yanked.<\/p>\n

But the bar still opened as usual Saturday and was initially opened on Sunday \u2014 until taxi sheriffs came by, prompting one of the proprietors to lock the door and say he was closed.<\/p>\n

Several people walking past the watering hole throughout Monday peeked inside the windows to see if it was open.<\/p>\n
