“#Google\u2019s AI experiment syncs every \u2018Bad Guy\u2019 song cover in an endless video<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n We\u2019ve seen some cool AI-based musical experiments from Google\u2019s team recently, including a virtual piano and a voice-to-music converter.\u00a0The company\u2019s latest experiment is a bit different: an infinite version of Billie Eilish\u2019s hit song, \u2018Bad Guy.\u2019<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t worry. It\u2019s not just one song being repeated again and again. Google\u2019s team has developed a tool that syncs all the covers of the song on YouTube<\/a> and plays them bits their portion sequentially. So, imagine a montage of covers being played from the beginning till the end, and then it starts over once the song finishes.<\/p>\n

When you visit the site<\/a> and hit the Autoplay button, the song will automatically start playing and video clips on the screen will change every few seconds. You can click on hashtags like #guitar, #accordion, #animals, or #classical to play one kind of videos sequentially.<\/p>\n

To create this tool, the team used YouTube\u2018s ContentID system<\/a> to identify \u2018Bad Guy\u2019\u00a0covers that resemble the original tune and weed out videos where the song is just playing in the background.<\/p>\n

Then it trained a recurrent neural network \u2014 often used in speech recognition \u2014 to recognize beats of the song and line up the cover\u00a0to create a seamless transition between videos.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a pretty cool experiment, and I wish Google would make a tool to discover awesome covers of songs that I like based on the AI\u2019s\u00a0learnings from it.<\/p>\n
