President Trump heads to Georgia on Saturday to campaign for the two Republican senators in the January runoff. Good move: That shows Trump cares about the country\u2019s future even though he\u2019s leaving the White House.<\/p>\n

And it gives him the perfect chance to rein in his \u201cThe fix is in\u201d talk \u2014 as he must if he wants his legacy to have legs.<\/p>\n

Losses in Georgia can hand the Democrats control of the Senate, giving Joe Biden a blank check and making it even harder to fend off the hard left. Progressive horrors like the economy-crushing Green New Deal and court-packing become live options.<\/p>\n

Georgia voters can keep the country on a more even keel. But the president\u2019s talk of a \u201crigged election\u201d \u2014 especially in that state \u2014 could discourage Republicans from voting: Why bother if it\u2019s fixed?<\/p>\n

Some Trump supporters are gearing up to tell Georgians to do just that. Lin Wood, one of Trump\u2019s lawyers, told his Twitter<\/a> followers, \u201cThreaten to withhold your votes & money\u201d from GOP Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue until they do something about the \u201csteal\u201d of the election.<\/p>\n

Trump recognizes the stakes, tweeting that \u201cwe must get out and help David and Kelly\u201d \u2014 otherwise \u201cwe are playing right into the hands of some very sick people.\u201d<\/p>\n

But then there was Tuesday\u2019s tweet that Gov. Brian Kemp \u201callowed your state to be scammed.\u201d \u201cDo something,\u201d Trump urged him, and then \u201ccall off\u201d the election. Huh?<\/p>\n

A Democratic Senate would allow the rapid destruction of Trump\u2019s legacy; he needs to start acting to save it. His term may be ending, but he can ensure that some adults retain power in Washington.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
