A trailer for the\u00a0Euphoria<\/em><\/strong> special episode dropped yesterday, and if the brief amount of footage there had you craving more, you\u2019re in luck! Because HBO Max is dropping the new episode early \u2013 on Thursday, December 3<\/strong>. The episode will then premiere on HBO on December 6<\/strong>. It\u2019s the first of two special episodes, with one focusing on the holiday season and the other covering COVID-19.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a hip youngster in need of more\u00a0Euphoria<\/em>, HBO Max is giving you an early holiday present. The first of two special episodes will air early, on Thursday, December 3. The episode will then debut on HBO on December 6, as previously announced.\u00a0Most HBO subscribers in the U.S. have access to the HBO Max app as part of their HBO subscript<\/a>ion and can visit HBOMax.com for more details.
\nHere\u2019s what the episode is about:<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of being left by Jules at the train station and relapsing, the first special episode follows Rue (played by Emmy-winner Zendaya<\/strong>) as she celebrates Christmas. Jules (played by Hunter Schafer<\/strong>) will also appear in the episode. Written and directed by series<\/a> creator Sam Levinson, the first episode, titled \u201cTrouble Don\u2019t Last Always,\u201d also stars Colman Domingo<\/strong>, who appeared in season one. The title and date of the second episode are forthcoming. Both special episodes were produced under COVID-19 guidelines.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

HBO and Zendaya\u00a0teased\u00a0at the special episodes back in October, with\u00a0HBO president\u00a0Casey Bloys<\/strong>\u00a0saying a \u201cspecial COVID episode\u201d would air at some point, and Zendaya adding: \u201cWe might end up doing a little bridge episode. I don\u2019t really know how to describe it, but an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment\u2026so we have something to live on until we are able to go into Season 2.\u201d But since then the one special episode morphed into two. The COVID episode is still to come \u2013 no date has been announced yet, but it will arrive before season 2 of the show.<\/p>\n

Euphoria<\/em>\u00a0follows \u201ca group of high school students as they navigate love and friendships in a world of drugs, sex, trauma, and social media<\/a>,\u201d and was adapted from the Israeli show of the same name. The American version was created by\u00a0Sam Levinson<\/strong>, who also wrote all the episodes of the first season as well as this new special. There\u2019s no premiere date for season 2 just yet, but at least fans will have these two specials to hold them over.<\/p>\n
