A French restaurant owner and his colleague were murdered while delivering expensive fine wine in Mexico City, police said \u2014 in a killing which has sparked protests over violent crime in the city.<\/p>\n

Baptiste Lormand, 45, who owns three restaurants in the upscale Polanco neighborhood, and his business partner, Luis Orozco,\u00a0were delivering a shipment of high-end wines Thursday when they vanished, BBC reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The wines were believed to be worth around $25,000, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

The missing pair\u2019s bodies were found Saturday by a dirt road in a southern district of the capital, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear what their causes of death were.<\/p>\n

Mexican authorities have arrested three people in connection to the murders \u2014 and \u201ca significant number of bottles of high-end alcohol and weapons were seized,\u201d according to Mexico City\u2019s Attorney-General<\/a> Ernestina Godoy.<\/p>\n

The identities of the suspects haven\u2019t been released.<\/p>\n

Mexico City Police Chief Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch added that everything pointed \u201ctowards the perpetrators wanting to steal his merchandise,\u201d the BBC reported.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of people protested Monday in the wake of the killings to demand justice and more security in the nation, which is on track to see murders hit a record high this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s now a great responsibility on society and the authorities for us to restore order,\u201d Polanco resident Israel Reyes.<\/p>\n
