But sometimes, older plug-ins you rely on may not have been upgraded to support Apple Silicon yet. Luckily, it\u2019s easy to force macOS to run the Intel version of an app through <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.apple.com\/documentation\/apple_silicon\/about_the_rosetta_translation_environment\">Rosetta<\/a>\u00a0instead. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<p>First, open your \u201cApplications\u201d folder. One way to do it quickly is to open \u201cFinder\u201d and choose Go &gt; Applications from the menu bar at the top of the screen. You can also open a Finder window and click \u201cApplications\u201d in the sidebar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-703000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/xopen_applications_folder.jpg.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.K-_V-V4zrs.jpg\" alt=\"Open the Applications folder using Finder on your Mac.\" width=\"650\" height=\"462\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cApplications\u201d folder, locate the universal binary app you\u2019d like to run through Rosetta. Right-click (or Ctrl-click) the app\u2019s icon and select \u201cGet Info.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-702998\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/xmac_apps_get_info.jpg.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.UXCBKen5hc.jpg\" alt=\"In your Applications folder, right click an app icon and select &quot;Get Info.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"374\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cGet Info\u201d window that appears, look toward the bottom of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a>\u201d section. Enable the \u201cOpen using Rosetta\u201d checkbox.<\/p>\n<p>You can now close the Info window.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-702997\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/xopen_using_rosetta_1.jpg.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.52GyfcoGMy.jpg\" alt=\"In the &quot;Get Info&quot; window, check the box beside &quot;Open using Rosetta.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"491\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The next time you open the app, it will open the x86_64 version of the app using Rosetta instead of the arm64 version. If you\u2019d like to go back to running the Apple Silicon version of the app instead, open the app\u2019s \u201cGet Info\u201d window again and uncheck \u201cOpen using Rosetta.\u201d Good luck!<\/p>\n<p>This will hopefully become less necessary over time.
