The posh Christie\u2019s auction house is selling a collection of T-shirts manufactured by the Supreme streetwear brand \u2014 and it wants $2 million.<\/p>\n

The assortment of 253 T-shirts spanning the lifetime of the wildly popular skateboarding brand from 1994 to 2020 is \u201cthe only known comprehensive archive of Supreme box logo T-shirts ever curated,\u201d Christies said in a press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The collection of tees \u2014 each of which features the brand\u2019s signature \u201cbox logo\u201d in various forms, including an American flag, Arabic writing and one that says F\u2014 Bush \u2014 belongs to James Bogart, a 21-year-old Canadian fashion student who started assembling it when he was 14, according to a CNBC report. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Valuing the collection at $2 million means an average price of $7,900 per shirt \u2014 a \u201cridiculous\u201d price, Bogart told CNBC in an interview.<\/p>\n

Bogart isn\u2019t saying how much he spent to amass the collection, but Supreme\u2019s merch has never been simple to get. The brand is famous for its limited-edition \u201cdrops\u201d that draw customers lining up for blocks outside stores. The early shirts were the most difficult to get, Bogart said, because Supreme only released 50 to 150 shirts of some limited editions.<\/p>\n

Bogart said he\u2019s having slight seller\u2019s remorse as he said he hopes the future buyer keeps them pristine.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that they don\u2019t wear them. I\u2019ve spent so long trying to get these shirts in their best possible condition. I think it would be a little bit painful to watch. But again, whoever does buy it, I would totally encourage them to do whatever makes them happ<\/a>y.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bogart\u2019s collection is part of a larger Supreme auction \u2014 Christie\u2019s first dedicated Supreme offering, that is open for bidding until Dec. 15. Bogart\u2019s collection is being offered as a private sale and not part of the auction process, Christie\u2019s said.<\/p>\n

Christie\u2019s has sold Supreme handbags and accessories for years, but this is the auction house\u2019s first auction dedicated to the brand, including a collection of skateboards, stickers, boxing gloves and even a Honda dirt bike and a pinball machine, that is valued at up to $30,000.<\/p>\n

Last year, Christie\u2019s sold a set of Supreme skateboards by the artist Kaws for $32,500 each.<\/p>\n

Last month, the Supreme brand was acquired for $2.1 billion by VF Corp., the owner of brands including Vans and Timberland.<\/p>\n

In August 2018, Supreme\u00a0took out front- and back-page ads in The Post, resulting in sold-out news<\/a>stands citywide as fans of the brand snatched up copies, with some reselling the papers for between $5 and $100 each.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
