{"id":125945,"date":"2020-12-04T05:42:20","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T02:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/did-fox-business-book-a-bitcoin-sv-proponent-by-mistake\/"},"modified":"2020-12-04T05:42:20","modified_gmt":"2020-12-04T02:42:20","slug":"did-fox-business-book-a-bitcoin-sv-proponent-by-mistake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/did-fox-business-book-a-bitcoin-sv-proponent-by-mistake\/","title":{"rendered":"# Did Fox Business book a Bitcoin SV proponent by mistake?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong># Did Fox Business book a Bitcoin SV proponent by mistake? <\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjAtMTIvNDA3YmM2OGUtNGUwNC00OTJlLWJkZmQtOTY4MDQ2ZmNiY2E5LmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-5a136f3a>An unusual <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/video.foxbusiness.com\/v\/6213910847001\/#sp=show-clips\">interview<\/a> with Bitcoin SV (BSV) proponent Jimmy Nguyen on Fox Business earlier today <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to have been cut short after Nguyen kept criticizing Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Nguyen appeared on the Dec. 3 episode of Fox Business\u2019 <em>Varney and Co.<\/em> to discuss the increasing interest around Bitcoin, but the interview came to an abrupt end after a total of about two minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Introduced as the \u201cBitcoin Association\u201d founding president, Nguyen repeatedly took shots at Bitcoin in response to questions from host Stuart Varney suggesting that Bitcoin was increasingly being used for payments.<\/p>\n<p>There was no mention of Bitcoin SV in either the graphics, the introduction, or the interview itself, leading to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TradeClaw\/status\/1334604876152770563\">speculation<\/a> the host, or the producers \u2014 or both \u2014 may have been unaware the \u201cBitcoin Association President\u201d was actually an advocate for the controversial fork BSV.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> should be used for daily transactions, not as reserve asset (which is fueling BTC&#8217;s recent price rise). I think Bitcoin is very rarely used today to pay for things at merchants.\u201d Nguyen went on to name Bitcoin\u2019s \u201cinability to scale\u201d as the main culprit behind the \u201c$7\u201d transaction fees that prevent it from being used as a currency for everyday transactions.<\/p>\n<p>Nguyen also used his brief time on-air to reject Bitcoin\u2019s \u201cstore of value\u201d narrative while claiming that it has been \u201cdriving up its price recently.\u201d As an example of what is, in his view, an incorrect usage of Bitcoin, he mentioned companies that have famously added large sums of BTC to their holdings in recent months:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cPublic companies such as MicroStrategy and Square have bought up large reserves of the coin and are treating it as a reserve asset, hoping that  it goes up in value just by parking it, not actually using it to transact with in daily business and consumer life.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bitcoin proponents and BSV critics took to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> to<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MyLegacyKit\/status\/1334594347485048840\"> remark<\/a> on some of the oddities surrounding the interview, noting they felt it was strange that Jimmy Nguyen, one of the main faces behind Bitcoin SV, was asked by Fox Business to speak about Bitcoin (BTC).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jimmy Nguyen on Fox Business today.<\/p>\n<p>While the real Bitcoin was discussed &amp; shown, he didn&#8217;t get a chance to shill his affinity scam token, the host cut him right off! <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FabSQS2cyv\">https:\/\/t.co\/FabSQS2cyv<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/i20pmskyZL\">pic.twitter.com\/i20pmskyZL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Arthur van Pelt (@MyLegacyKit) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MyLegacyKit\/status\/1334594347485048840?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 3, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Also<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Zectro1\/status\/1334611367374942210\"> noted<\/a> as curious was the fact that Nguyen did not have the opportunity to mention BSV at all in the short interview, leaving the mention of his position as founding president of the Bitcoin Association without any sort of context to suggest it is a BSV<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinassociation.net\/\"> organization<\/a>. Twitter user <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Zectro1\/status\/1334611367374942210?s=20\">Zectro <\/a>said, &#8220;It&#8217;s delicious though that he likely went on there with the singular purpose to shill BSV and he couldn&#8217;t even get that right.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin SV\u2019s claim to be the &#8220;real&#8221; Bitcoin, and its use of the Bitcoin Association name \u2014 rather than the more correct \u201cBitcoin SV Association\u201d name \u2014 invites <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cactuspits\/status\/1334628297678925827\">comparisons<\/a> with Roger Ver\u2019s promotion and sales of Bitcoin Cash via the Bitcoin.com website, which has led to potential <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bitcointalk.org\/index.php?topic=5180332.msg52334323#msg52334323\">confusion<\/a> among newcomers to crypto.<\/p>\n<p>Starting late March, Nguyen took an extended hiatus from Twitter, prompting claims that he was intentionally evading a subpoena regarding Satoshi-claimant Craig Wright\u2019s ongoing legal battle with the estate of Dave Kleiman.
