Disgraced megachurch pastor Carl Lentz had multiple affairs \u2013 but is still getting a payoff, Hillsong church founder Brian Houston claimed in a bombshell secret recording.<\/p>\n

The former head of the megachurch\u2019s New York branch and onetime personal pastor and confidante of Justin Bieber was fired last month, <\/a>then admitted he cheated on his wife.<\/a><\/p>\n

New York City-based designer Ranin Karim, 34, alleged to The Post that she had a months-long relationship with the married pastor and father-of-three<\/a> which started last summer, claiming he was \u201clike a drug\u201d to her.<\/p>\n

But in a leaked audio recording of a meeting of church executives and top donors held around November 19, Australian Hillsong founder Houston revealed alleged that Lentz, 42, had \u201cmore than one affair.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cA staff member found a very compromising chain of text messages on Carl\u2019s laptop \u2026[we] drove right across town to talk to Carl and confront him and that was the beginning of the process we are at now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we talk about an affair. These issues were more than one affair, they were significant. And at least some bad moral behavior had gone back historically, but not necessarily those affairs,\u201d Houston said in the recording obtained by Page Six.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it was just about a moral failure perhaps it would have been possible to \u2026 work our way through it and have a period of restoration \u2026 But the nature of where my relationship was with Carl already \u2026 and then [to] add the significant nature of the moral issues meant that I believed and our global board believed [the only option] was to terminate Carl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Houston said that there had been problems with Lentz ahead of the affair revelations. \u201cHe was a difficult man to have any kind of direct conversation with because it was always defensive, it would always be put back on the other person, as though they were the ones with the problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were not easy meetings and I already at the point at the end of summer that I felt like Carl and Laura\u2019s time in New York was coming to an end \u2026 not just general<\/a> narcissistic behavior, manipulating, mistreating people \u2026 I think sometimes other hurtful things, the breaches of trust connected to lying, constantly lying \u2026 basically, broken trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the church had hired a New York law firm as an independent investigator<\/a> to probe Lentz\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n

But Lentz may still receive a golden parachute despite his alleged behavior.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working on a severance package which we\u2019re negotiating with them on,\u201d George Aghajanian, a Hillsong director, said on the audio, adding, \u201cThey haven\u2019t accepted that at this point in time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lentz, 42, was close with Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Baldwin. He had previously spent a lot of close time with Bieber, baptized him in a bathtub and lived with him for a period of time as his personal spiritual advisor.<\/p>\n

Bieber reportedly ended his relationship with Lentz last year, before this scandal broke. Bieber and Baldwin have since unfollowed Lentz on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Lentz and wife Laura \u2014 who was not fired from the church but quit after her husband was fired, met at Hillsong\u2019s training academy in Sydney and moved to New York in 2010. <\/p>\n

The couple, who married in 2003 and have three children, sold their Montclair, New Jersey home<\/a> and moved to Los Angeles around the time the pastor\u2019s infidelity emerged to \u201cwork on their marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than 100,000 people globally attend weekly services at Hillsong in about 20 countries, including more than 10,000 at numerous locations in the US.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
