Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s politicization of the coronavirus vaccines is clearly endangering New Yorkers\u2019 health. It was already old; now he must quit it.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, after announcing that New York will get 170,000 vaccine doses to distribute by mid-December, the gov, without skipping a beat, slammed the feds for failing to provide the state with \u201cany funding to speak of\u201d to distribute the vaccine.<\/p>\n

Untrue: Federal sources told The Post that the state has more than $7.5 million available for just that, thanks to the CARES Act \u2014 but Cuomo hasn\u2019t spent a dime. The city has a separate $6.6 million in untapp<\/a>ed federal funds for vaccine distribution.<\/p>\n

Cuomo was clear that the state desperately needs financial help for distribution, so why leave this cash on the table? Did the gov not know, because he\u2019s been boycotting all meetings with President Trump\u2019s (non-political!) COVID planners?<\/p>\n

Maybe it\u2019s just that taking the money might be seen as admitting that Trump is doing something right \u2014 and that not everything good flows from the self-promoting author of \u201cLeadership.\u201d<\/p>\n

Note, too, that Cuomo has devoted time and energy to setting up his \u201cexpert review panel\u201d to second-guess the professional federal regulators who approved the vaccine. That review won\u2019t delay distribution, we\u2019re told \u2014 will it do anything, other than add to the governor\u2019s political theater?<\/p>\n

Similarly, Cuomo has thundered about the supposed injustice of federal distribution plans \u2014 when those plans center on letting states decide for themselves.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll cross our fingers and hope that New York\u2019s failure to use the federal funds doesn\u2019t delay a single dose. But Cuomo needs to focus on ensuring that frontline health workers and other first responders, plus highly at-risk civilians, get their shots ASAP.<\/p>\n

People\u2019s lives are in your hands, governor \u2014 stop the shameful posturing.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
