The Grammy<\/strong> nominee took to social media<\/a> to apologize for using a racially insensitive word after critics called her out for it. It all began when Miley Cyrus<\/strong>\u2019 younger sis posted on her Instagram Story<\/strong> to support Harry Styles<\/strong>\u2019 much-discussed Vogue<\/em> photoshoot, in which he donned a Gucci<\/strong> jacket over a dress.<\/p>\n

During her attempt to defend the One Direction<\/strong> alum from the conservative critics of his gender-bending style, the 20-year-old made a big mistake, using a term she app<\/a>arently didn\u2019t know the meaning of. She shared a pic of Harry with the caption:<\/p>\n

\u201che wears this dress better than any of u nappy ass heauxz.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

OMG\u2026 gurl, no!<\/p>\n

Naturally, critics put the July<\/em> songstress on blast for using the racially insensitive term \u201cnappy\u201d \u2014 which, for those who don\u2019t know, is a historically negative reference to natural Black hair textures.<\/p>\n

Twitter<\/strong> users immediately sounded the alarm, with one writing:<\/p>\n

\u201cNoah cyrus said she thought nappy meant tired you yt ppl need to stop using words you hear black ppl say\u2026\u2026. y\u2019all don\u2019t even be knowing the meaning y\u2019all be saying it just to look cool it\u2019s aggy\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Well, turns out Noah got the lesson she needed. The starlet returned to social media on Thursday to claim that she didn\u2019t know the \u201ccontext and history\u201d of the term, and thanked her critics for educating her. She wrote on her IG Story:<\/p>\n

\u201ci am mortified that i used a term without knowing the context and history, but i know now and i am horrified and truly sorry\u2026 i will never use it again. thank you for educating me. i in no way meant to offend anyone. i am so sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Seems genuine enough. However, not everyone accepted Noah\u2019s apology.<\/p>\n
