Although it is not yet clear if this represents a serious privacy issue, some users might prefer to disable it. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Google_Analytics_and_Why_is_it_on_My_Switch\"><\/span>What is Google Analytics, and Why is it on My Switch?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/marketingplatform.google.com\/about\/analytics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Google Analytics<\/a> is a marketing service run by Google that anonymously collects statistics about visitors to websites (and other online services) for clients. It compiles reports about demographics and browsing habits to show online service operators how to better target potential readers or customers.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, the only official information we have about why Nintendo now includes <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.galacticfed.com\/blog\/how-to-use-digital-marketing-analytics-for-growth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Analytics<\/a><\/strong> in its eShop is from the preferences pages, which mentions \u201cNintendo\u2019s collection of your data through Google Analytics.\u201d We do not know what data is being shared through Analytics.<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo\u2019s options page also reads, \u201cThis setting is enabled only on Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch console,\u201d which presumably means activities on your Switch outside the eShop will not be tracked by Google Analytics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>Keep Google From Tracking Your Every Move Online<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Disable_Google_Analytics_in_the_Nintendo_Switch_eShop\"><\/span>How to Disable Google Analytics in the Nintendo Switch eShop<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First, power up your Nintendo Switch console and launch the eShop by selecting the shopping bag icon on the home screen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-703999\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xswitch_launch_eshop.jpg.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.UtFjnV5ejZ.jpg\" alt=\"On the Nintendo Switch HOME screen, tap the shopping bag icon to launch the Nintendo eShop app.\" width=\"650\" height=\"227\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the eShop, select your user profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
