Foreign desk: Jewish Docs for Jew-Haters<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s ironic, if not \u201cweird,\u201d that Saeb Erekat, a top Palestinian official who \u201cdid his best to destroy\u201d Israel before his death last month, looked to \u00adHadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem to treat his coronavirus, snarks Reuven Berko at The Investigative Project on Terrorism<\/a>. Then again, Sheik Ikrima Sabri called for the \u201cannihilation of the Zionists\u201d yet had Jewish doctors at Hadassah perform heart surgery, saving his life. Hamas\u2019 leader\u2019s daughter went to Tel Aviv\u2019s Ichilov Hospital after complications suffered in a Gaza hospital \u2014 just two months after Hamas started a war with Israel. \u201cThe parade of Hamas murderers, kidnapp<\/a>ers and genocidal Jew-hating terrorists who find no moral contradiction in seeking medical help from the very people they are sworn to wipe out boggles the mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Our Great Loss<\/strong><\/p>\n

As an economist, the late Walter Williams \u201cnever got the credit he \u00addeserved,\u201d laments Thomas Sowell at Townhall<\/a>. His \u201cRace and Economics\u201d is a \u201cmust-read introduction to the subject.\u201d \u201cSouth Africa\u2019s War Against Capitalism,\u201d on economics under apartheid, had \u201cimplications for racial discrimination\u201d throughout the world. \u201cAs a person,\u201d Williams \u2014 \u201cmy best friend for half a century\u201d \u2014 was \u201cunique\u201d: He was \u201cgenerous\u201d with his money, \u201cdespite his opposition to the welfare state, as something doing more harm than good.\u201d He held a black belt in karate. And he went to his job at 4:30 a.m., the \u201conly person who had no problem finding a parking space\u201d in downtown DC. \u201cWe may never see his like again. And that is our loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Economist: The Tragedy of Black Education<\/strong><\/p>\n

In his final column for Creators Syndicate<\/a>, the late Walter Williams spotlights the failure of urban public schools to educate African Americans. \u201cIn five Baltimore City high schools, not a single student scored proficient in math or reading\u201d yet \u201cabout 70 percent of the students graduate.\u201d These systems rush to teach about \u201csystemic racism\u201d and \u201cBlack Lives Matter \u00adactivism.\u201d This, when Baltimore\u2019s Frederick Douglass HS and others were truly excellent through the 1950s, \u201can era when blacks were much poorer than today and faced gross racial discrimination.\u201d Douglass \u201cproduced many distinguished alumni, such as Thurgood Marshall and Cab Calloway.\u201d Alumni of DC\u2019s all-black Paul Laurence Dunbar HS \u201cinclude US Sen. Edward Brooke, physician Charles Drew and, during World War II, nearly a score\u201d of top military officers. Both schools have far more resources \u00adtoday, but it means \u201cnothing in terms of academic achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Media<\/a> watch: Trump\u2019s Poor Taste Isn\u2019t Criminal<\/strong><\/p>\n

The New York Times \u201cmay have surpassed itself,\u201d sneers Conrad Black at The Hill<\/a>, with its magazine cover story \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s Potential Criminal Liability Is the Key to Understanding His Presidency.\u201d The piece was \u201ca stupefying bowdlerization of facts and a character assassination of the president,\u201d who was \u201cenvisioned in \u2018an orange jumpsuit\u2019 worn by violent inmates in high-security prisons.\u201d The Times sees charges against Trump for the \u201cMichael Cohen and the Stormy Daniels nonsense,\u201d even though it admits similar charges against 2004 Democratic vice presidential candidate John \u00adEdwards failed. The \u201cprincipal problem\u201d of Trump-haters is they\u2019re \u201cso possessed by their loathing that they lose all judgment and imagine that his many tawdry acts and utterances are crimes.\u201d It\u2019s wishful thinking, unless we criminalize \u201cpoor taste.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the right: Demography Needn\u2019t Be Destiny<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDemography is destiny\u201d has long \u201cbeen the battle cry of the left,\u201d Mike Gonzalez writes at Law & Liberty<\/a> \u2014 the idea that immigration \u201cwill transform our democracy over time.\u201d Yet \u201cthe 2020 election offers a window as to how Americans might avert this future.\u201d Mexican Americans in rural Texas swung to the GOP, as did Cubans and Puerto Ricans in Florida, while \u201cChinese-American parents, mostly immigrants, organized a revolt against the attempt to introduce racial preferences in California.\u201d German immigrants were seen as a threat to the culture in the 19th century, as were later immigrant waves. Yet the nation in each case embraced assimilation. In short, \u201cdemography is only destiny if we allow it to be, by accepting the left\u2019s transformation of culture.\u201d <\/p>\n
