Matthew McConaughey slammed the Hollywood elites who \u201ccondescend\u201d and \u201cpatronize\u201d conservatives \u2014 adding that it\u2019s hypocritical of them to expect President Trump\u2019s supporters to immedia<\/a>tely accept the 2020 election results.<\/p>\n

On Russell Brand\u2019s podcast \u201cUnder the Skin,\u201d McConaughey was asked if he noticed a \u201ccondemnation and criticism of ordinary working people\u201d the entertainment industry when it comes to politics.<\/p>\n

\u201c[There is] a kind of offhandedness, like, \u2018Oh, they\u2019re dumb, they\u2019re voting for Brexit, they\u2019re voting for Trump.\u2019 I don\u2019t like it, and I don\u2019t like to hear it,\u201d Brand said in an episode last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McConaughey replied, \u201cThere are a lot [of people] on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards the other 50 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cTrue Detective\u201d star pointed out how some of his Hollywood peers struggled to accept the results in the 2016 election \u2014 but now the roles have been reversed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure you saw it in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that was real. Some of them were in absolute denial,\u201d McConaughey said.<\/p>\n

He suggested that it would now be hypocritical for them to expect Trump voters to give up on challenging President-elect Joe Biden\u2019s win.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Now] it looks like Biden\u2019s our guy. Now you\u2019ve got the right that\u2019s in denial, cause their side has fake news<\/a>. And I understand, they\u2019ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they\u2019re putting down their last bastion of defense.\u201d<\/p>\n

McConaughey said people should reframe political conversations by daring each other to meet in the middle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI almost feel like it\u2019s a move to say, \u201cLet\u2019s get aggressively centric. I dare you,\u201d he said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
