But talking to them isn\u2019t always convenient. If you prefer Google Assistant, you can type to it instead, but Alexa users were out of luck. That is until now\u2014you can now text to Alexa instead of speaking a command. At least, if you\u2019re on an iOS preview.<\/p>\n<p>The Ambient <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-ambient.com\/news\/type-with-alexa-new-keyboard-feature-2435\">first spotted the change<\/a>, and for now, it <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to be an iOS-only test. If you have access to the public preview, you should see a new keyboard option when you open the Alexa app.<\/p>\n<p>The company <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/12\/3\/22149147\/amazon-text-with-alexa-ios-public-preview-voice-assistant?tag=reviewgeek-20\">confirmed the test<\/a> to The Verge, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Type with Alexa is a Public Preview feature available to iOS Alexa app customers allowing you to interact with Alexa without using voice, meaning everything you can currently say to Alexa can now also be typed using your Alexa mobile app. Type with Alexa is available to iOS customers in the U.S.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>What\u2019s not clear is how widely the test is rolling out or when it will come to Android. The ability to type to a voice assistant isn\u2019t new; you can already type to Google Assistant and Cortana.
