President-elect Joe Biden has reportedly picked Rochelle Walensky \u2014 chief of infectious diseases at Massachusetts General<\/a> Hospital \u2014 to run the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n

Walensky will succeed Robert Redfield, who has been leading the federal agency since March 2018, two sources with knowledge of the move told Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Under Biden, the CDC is expected to assume more responsibility amid the pandemic than under President Trump, the report said.<\/p>\n

Biden is expected to publicly announce his nomination of Walensky this week.<\/p>\n

In another top health position in Biden\u2019s Cabinet, the president-elect has reportedly tapp<\/a>ed California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to be his health secretary.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
