Think in terms of Carter Rubin, who reminded everyone why he was a top contender with his performance of \u201cThe Rainbow Connection.\u201d We like the song choice \u2014 it\u2019s not one that we hear a million times. Also, there\u2019s an inherent sweetness about it that feels different than most other songs. It\u2019s age appropriate and perfect for the sort of pop singer he wants to be.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, who doesn\u2019t love Kermit the Frog? It really just fits his personality really well. The struggle with the performance was finding a way to make sure that it didn\u2019t veer too much into a Broadway direction \u2014 it is a song about lyrics, which you don\u2019t see as much in pop music these days. Carter\u2019s biggest strength is his tone \u2014 it\u2019s pretty perfect, and he also has that ability to hit any note on the scale.<\/p>\n<p>Carter also shared an emotional story about his brother, who has autism, and how he thinks the world could use some of the innocence that he has. It\u2019s something that has become missing more and more from this world.<\/p>\n<p>After listening to Carter\u2019s full take on this song, we think that we can go ahead and say with confidence that he\u2019s going through to the finale. How is the voting public going to keep him out of that, especially after closing out the show?
