\n Florida surpassed 100,000 coronavirus cases Monday \u2014 as new infections continue to surge in the state.<\/p>\n

Health officials announced 2,926 new infections, bringing the total to 100,217 confirmed cases in the state, the Miami Herald reported.<\/p>\n

The bleak milestone comes with bars, gyms and movie theaters reopened at partial capacity in all but three South Florida counties, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez blamed the city\u2019s recent spike in cases on the lack of social<\/a> distancing at recently reopened restaurants.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we started opening up our restaurants, unfortunately I think society started to think that we were signaling the all clear,\u201d Suarez said at a press conference Sunday, according to news<\/a> station WPLG.<\/p>\n

Gov. Ron DeSantis, meanwhile, has suggested that younger people might be driving the spread.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that we\u2019ve started to see some erosion on social distancing from probably some of the younger population,\u201d DeSantis said, according to NBC6.<\/p>\n

Despite the rise in new infections, DeSantis said last week he will not walk back any of the reopening measures, the Herald reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not rolling back,\u201d DeSantis said during a Tuesday news conference.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
