Libertarian: Extremist Epidemiologists<\/strong><\/p>\n

A New York Times survey of 700 epidemiologists reveals that several believe it will never \u201cbe safe for normal life to resume,\u201d Robby Soave notes at Reason<\/a>. And in their own lives, \u201conly 29 percent were willing to get a haircut, even though the most infamous case involving two hairstylists who had COVID-19 resulted in not a single infection among their 139 clients.\u201d And \u201cfor too long,\u201d these specialists\u2019 \u201cpessimistic dictates have provided cover for politicians and government employees to make people\u2019s lives miserable.\u201d Notably, \u201cschools are still closed in many major cities, even as new scientific information has general<\/a>ly found that resuming in-person education would be perfectly fine.\u201d Especially \u201cas the population becomes vaccinated, and we move past the crisis point of the pandemic,\u201d each of us has the right \u201cto dissent from the epidemiologists\u2019 contentment with the way things are now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Biden\u2019s Great Reset Support <\/strong><\/p>\n

Joe Biden has been \u201crelatively quiet\u201d about whether he intends to support the Great Reset, an international plan \u201cincreasing the power of government through expansive new social<\/a> programs like the Green New Deal and using vast regulatory schemes,\u201d Justin Haskins worries at The Hill<\/a>. But former Secretary of State John Kerry, whom Biden named special presidential envoy for climate, confirmed last month that the Biden administration will support the Great Reset, saying it \u201cwill happ<\/a>en with greater speed and with greater intensity than a lot of people might imagine.\u201d Kerry\u2019s admission makes it \u201ccrystal clear\u201d that Biden\u2019s team will try to use COVID-19 as an excuse to join radical causes, and \u201cif they are successful, the country will never be the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iconoclast: Don\u2019s Righteous Self-Pardon<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Week\u2019s Matthew Walther declares<\/a>: \u201cI would be astonished if Donald Trump left office without a presidential pardon\u201d to shield himself from Democratic attempts to \u201clock him up.\u201d That he can do so is beyond doubt. Nothing in the Constitution bars a president from issuing a preemptive pardon for himself. And he\u2019d be morally in the right, too: \u201cThe idea that Trump the television star and real-estate mogul would have found himself facing federal or state prosecution if he had never sought, much less won, the presidency beggars belief. Any such charges \u2014 and I fully expect them to come \u2014 will be politically motivated recrimination, spiteful acts of revenge.\u201d No one should \u201cpretend that he is in any sense obligated to take it lying down.<\/p>\n

GOP senator: Don\u2019t Blame Us for Payback<\/strong><\/p>\n

After President Trump\u2019s 2016 victory, most Democrats vowed to \u201cobstruct\u201d nominees and \u201cshatter precedent,\u201d recalls Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) at The Wall Street Journal <\/a>\u2014 and they followed through: While Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton \u201chad nearly all of their Cabinet confirmed in January,\u201d Trump had only three. Dems also tried to block 79 lower-level nominees in the first two years, while Trump\u2019s \u201csix predecessors combined faced the same obstruction only 18 times.\u201d Sen. Chuck Schumer even voted against Elaine Chao as transportation secretary, though she had been thoroughly vetted for other posts. All that \u201chamstrung\u201d Team Trump. If Republicans hold the Senate next year, they\u2019ll \u201ctreat mainstream nominees fairly,\u201d Barrasso promises. But those \u201cout of the mainstream will face a gantlet.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the left: Bernie Betrays Himself<\/strong><\/p>\n

At a crucial moment in the Democratic primaries, deep-state spooks leaked to The Washington Post that Moscow supposedly wanted Bernie Sanders to win \u2014 a story calculated to damage the Vermont socialist. That, says Glenn Greenwald at his Substack blog<\/a>, makes it all the more \u201cjarring to see him on Thursday mock the idea that there is such a thing as \u2018the deep state\u2019 \u2014 the very entity that did so much to help sink his 2020 campaign. . . . It\u2019s somewhat difficult to understand how one can wage a \u2018revolution\u2019 against the political establishment,\u201d as Sanders claims he wants to do, \u201cwhile delegitmizing the obviously true claim that establishment news<\/a> outlets disseminate fake news against establishment enemies\u201d at the deep state\u2019s behest. <\/em><\/p>\n
